Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, Ace Ankomah detailed saying, “In 2022 alone, we wrote to the president every week, for eight weeks. On 10th September 2024, we repeated our call. But let’s start from 28th September 2022, we wrote an open letter to the president, saying that this galamsey thing is a problem, put your foot down.”

He added that their persistent letter warning of the dangers about galamsey felled on deaf ears.

Mr Ankomah further called for the seizure of lands currently utilised for galamsey operations. He urged the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government to act immediately in addressing the illegal mining crisis.

He cautioned that without urgent intervention, the nation risks facing catastrophic implications that could affect the next generations of Ghanaians.
