Following government’s failure to address the menace of illegal mining (galamsey) as demanded by Organised Labour, the union declared a nationwide strike effective October 10, 2024.

The strike action will see all workers staying home from Thursday October 10, 2024, to compel government to take an action on galamsey.

Joshua Ansah, Secretary General of the TUC, in a statement, noted that “Following the expiration of our deadline, and the failure of the government to meet our demands on illegal mining, Organised Labour has decided to declare a nationwide strike with effect from October 10, 2024.”

It remains to be seen if the Organised Labour are going to accept President Akufo-Addo plea for more time to deal with the galamsey menace ravaging the country.
