Member of Parliament for Agona West and current independent candidate, for Agona west Cynthia Morrison narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Agona Nyakrom, Central Region.

The incident occurred around 7:40 pm when an unidentified gunman targeted Morrison but missed, injuring another person instead.

The attack took place during a power outage, which added to the chaos and confusion. Morrison and her team quickly sought safety at a nearby police station, where they reported the incident.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and are working to identify and apprehend the assailant.

Morrison, a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, previously served as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection under President Akufo-Addo’s administration.

She is currently contesting the Agona West seat as an independent candidate, following her decision to part ways with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
