Woman arrested in Nigeria for stealing 7-day old baby during naming ceremony

The Nasarawa State Police Command in Nigeria has arrested a woman, Khadija Aliyu, for allegedly abducting a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in Keffi.

Aliyu, who had reportedly been faking a pregnancy, attended the event and took the baby while the ceremony was ongoing.

According to sources, she entered the house where the baby was sleeping, placed the child on her back, and hid her under her veil and tried to flee.

Unfortunately for her she was caught that evening by law enforcement who took immediate action.

Aliyu and the baby have safely been recovered and she is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

The Nasarawa police have urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to help prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
