Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Kofi Adams has argued concerns over Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s suitability for leadership. The MP labeled the NPP flagbearer a potential “disaster” for Ghana if he becomes president after the December polls.

He argues that compared to other influential people in the ruling NPP party, the Flagbearer has barely earned his strides in the party.

In a recent interview, Kofi Adams also pointed to the departure of key New party figures as a warning sign. He claims their exits reflect a lack of confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership capabilities.

“The decisions of people like Nana Ohene Ntow, who rose through the ranks of the NPP to become General Secretary, Alan Kyerematen and Boniface Abubakari Sadiq, who was the first appointed Minister of State at the Office of the Vice President, indicate something troubling,” Adams said.

“These individuals, who have worked closely with Bawumia, have left the NPP to pursue other agendas. It’s clear to me that Dr. Bawumia will be a disaster for this country. They all know.”

Kofi Adams further indicated that Boniface, a fellow Muslim and Northern native like Bawumia, distancing himself from the Vice President is particularly telling.

“If Bawumia had been a good leader, someone like Boniface, who shares cultural and religious ties with him, would have chosen to associate with him. But they’ve abandoned him because they know he’s a failure,” Adams added.
