Dr. Ayew Afriyie the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore has said the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not stop galamseyers today or tomorrow.

Speaking on a campaign platform he said, “It is someone behind that to force the NPP government to stop galamsey so that we will lose the seats. We won’t stop galamseyers today or tomorrow.”

The Chairman of the Parliament Health committee, Dr Ayew Afriyie accused the opposition NDC of recruiting foreigners to mine in Ghana’s water bodies, saying “The NDC saw that we NPP were winning the seats in the mining areas. So, they decided to go and import foreigners and engage in illegal mining on our waterbodies. The whole waterbodies have not been a problem and just started one month ago”.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Water Company has stated on numerous occasions that they are unable to treat the water for its consumers due to the turbidity of the water from this galamsey affected rivers, forcing the company’s treatment plant in some regions to shut down on some occasions.
