For unknown reasons, the protesters climbed billboards to remove flags belonging to particular political parties which had been erected ahead of the 2024 election and set them ablaze.

The purpose of the protest is to raise awareness and express their displeasure with the ongoing illegal mining activities.

The three-day event was scheduled to take place at the Revolution Square, opposite the Jubilee House and has currently caused heavy traffic due to the roadblocks and gathering of the protesters at the 37 roundabout.

The Ghana Police Service, has however secured an injunction, citing concerns about possible public disorder due to the chosen venue.

Although there was a meeting between the police and Democracy Hub on Friday to propose alternative routes, it ended unfinished.
