Leader of the African Reform Movement (ARM), Dr. Nii Amu Darko, arrived late to file his presidential nomination.

The deadline for submission of the nomination was set for 5pm, but Dr. Darko reportedly arrived after and this has raised questions about the authenticity of his candidacy.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is now faced with the decision of whether to accept or reject his forms.

“This nominations are being submitted after 5 and we are not expecting to receive nominations after 5. The premises of the EC is not where we complete nomination forms candidates are expected to complete their nomination forms and file within the stipulated time”.

“We are not willing to accept it, we will receive it but we’re not going to accept the forms. I am acting on behalf of the chairperson who is the returning officer so i will submit my report to the chairperson of the Electoral Commission” a representative of the Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa told Dr. Darko and his team.

In Dr. Darko’s defense, the forms were not filled on the premises of the EC but rather some corrections were made and they also did not get the impression that four endorsement copies were needed and that was the cause of his lateness.

Dr. Darko’s late arrival could potentially disqualify him from participating in the upcoming election, depending on the EC’s final ruling.

However, supporters of the African Reform Movement are hopeful that the commission will allow his candidacy to proceed, citing possible logistical challenges that may have caused the delay.
