The NDC has declined to sign a peace pact ahead of the December 7, 2024 polls, stating that it will not commit to any such agreement until certain conditions are met.

Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, has however implored the NDC to reconsider its stance, and help reduce the tensions currently in the country.

According to him, peace is the end goal for all election related activities, hence the significance placed on the peace pact.

“We join arms with the Peace Council to implore, or ask, the NDC to reconsider their stance because all we are aiming for, come December—before, during, and after—is peace. So, if the major political party that should contribute to this peace process says they will not sign, it becomes a matter of concern,” he stated.

With peace being paramount for Ghanaians, Dr. Boafo championed collaboration between all stakeholders to safeguard the country’s democracy.
