The Ghana Police Service has issued a strong warning to the national executives of the national democratic congress that the party will be held responsible for damage caused by supporters on the enough is enough demonstration today.

The protest, set to take place across all 16 regions of the country, aims to press the Electoral Commission (EC) to permit a forensic audit of the 2024 elections.
On September 9, NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, announced the party’s intent to stage a nationwide demonstration following the EC’s refusal to conduct a forensic audit of the voter register for the December elections.

Addressing the media on Monday, September 16, 2024, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, stressed that the police will ensure peaceful and lawful conduct during the protests. She urged demonstrators to adhere to designated routes and timelines.

NDC leaders plan to submit petitions to the EC’s regional offices and headquarters in Accra, as the party continues to express frustration over what they believe to be flaws in the voter register ahead of the 2024 elections.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi emphasized that the NDC has been reminded of its responsibilities under the Public Order Act 1994 (Act 491), which outlines the requirements for organizing public demonstrations.
