The Accra Sports Stadium looks in the best condition one can ever see as compared to its nature a few weeks ago.
Photos surfacing online show the pitch of the Accra Sports Stadium looking naturally green, with the grass even cut and looking healthy.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), inspected he Accra and Cape Coast stadiums over the weekend.
This inspection exercise was to evaluate the Accra and Cape Coast stadiums, and their suitability to host CAF matches, especially the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The inspection exercise follows the ban placed on Ghana from playing any of its CAF games in the country after the Baba Yara Stadium’s license to host category C games was suspended due to its substandard playing surface.
CAF urged Ghana to find alternative venues to play its 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. However, Ghana has failed to do so for their October home game against Sudan.
If Ghana receives approval from CAF, the Black Stars can play its home game against Sudan in front of its home crowd.
Ghanaians are just hopeful CAF will approve the Accra and Cape Coast stadiums to host category C matches as the National Sports Authority (NSA) and Ghana Football Association (GFA) have put in the efforts to facelift these pitches.
