Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on young people involved in betting to manage their winnings wisely, especially once the betting tax is abolished under his leadership.

Reaffirming his commitment to removing the controversial betting tax if elected, Mahama emphasized the importance of financial responsibility.

During his visit to the Chiefs of Badu Traditional Area in the Tain constituency of the Bono Region on Sunday, September 8, 2024, he urged the youth to use their betting earnings sensibly.

In addition to his promise on betting tax, Mahama reiterated the NDC’s plan to abolish the unpopular E-Levy, which has drawn widespread criticism since its introduction.

He assured mobile money users that scrapping the E-Levy would offer significant relief.

With these tax-related promises, the NDC aims to appeal to the youth, particularly those involved in betting, who would benefit by keeping their full winnings.

The former president’s stance and policy appear to be encouraging youth, particularly the unemployed, to turn to betting.

Mahama also called for unity among the people, urging them to work together for peaceful elections.

He cautioned against “skirt and blouse” voting, where voters split their votes between different parties, and encouraged support for the NDC parliamentary candidate, Sulemana Adama, also known as Ramzy, for the overall benefit of the constituency.
