How Former Metro Mass Boss Was Sacked After Atta Mills’ death

Dr. Maxwell Awuku, the former Managing Director (MD) of Metro Mass Transit Limited has revealed that he was sacked from his position in 2013 because he was not a member of the National Democratic Congress.

According to the former Eastern Regional Minister under the Hilla Liman regime, he was appointed in 2011 to lead Metro Mass Transit under the late Professor John Evans Atta-Mills despite not being a member of the NDC because the president knew his value.

However, after working tirelessly to increase the revenue of Metro Mass Transit from GH₵ 49 million to GH₵105 million within three years but was sacked despite the tremendous work he was doing there because he was not a party member.

“When I took over Metro Mass, the revenue they had generated was GH₵49 million but he increased it to GH₵61 million in 2010, GH₵81 million in 2011 and GH₵105 million in 2012 but I didn’t finish the work because I was sacked in 2013 because they said I’m not a party member,” Dr. Maxwell Awuku said on Onua TV.

He added that politics is killing this country because there are people who can offer so much to the country’s development but are sidelined because they don’t belong to the ruling class.
