Nana Romeo a Ghanaian radio presenter has said the galamsey protest was a waste of time and will not yield any result.
On UTV United Showbiz on Saturday Nana Romeo stated, “Protests can bring results, but if you don’t follow the law, what are you really trying to achieve? The leaders of this protest are not fit for the role. The entire exercise was a waste of time and energy and will not yield any results”.
The presenter further added that the protesters informed the police about the demonstration and the police told them their routes were inappropriate and provided them with alternative, but they insisted on protesting at the unapproved location.
He questioned the protesters stating that, “As citizens who recognize that things aren’t going well in the country and who claim to want order restored, how can you disregard the police’s directives?”.
The Ghana Police Service arrested 54 protesters charged with conspiracy to commit a crime are currently in remand waiting for their court hearing.
