Academic activities in public universities will grind to a halt as the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) has declares a nationwide strike, from tomorrow Friday, September 20, 2024.
They are joining their colleagues the senior staff association of universities of Ghana and the Federation of Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG) who are already on strike to demand better conditions of service.
The university groups are accusing government of failing to address their demands for improved working conditions, including the non-implementation of Vehicle Maintenance and Off-Campus allowances, nonpayment of interest accrued from delayed Tier Two deductions to the union’s scheme and arrears of eight months’ worth of Tier Two deductions.
