Chief of Wamanafuo-Sabikrom in the Dormaa East District of Ghana’s Bono Region, Nana Sabi Ababio has called for a rethink of youth employment policies.

He made a rather shocking appeal to former President John Mahama, during a mini durbar held at Wamanafuo Ahyiayem.

Addressing the NDC flagbearer, Nana Sabi Ababio expressed frustration at the dire need for jobs among the youth in his community. He urged Mahama, should he win the upcoming December 7 general elections, to ensure that employment opportunities are made available without the strict requirement of certificates.

“We, the people of Wamanafuo and the youth want jobs. No one is asking for a certificate to vote for you to become president, so when the time comes to provide employment for them, and they are asked to bring their certificates, it will be a burden on us,” he said.

This comes at the backheel of political rallies ahead of the December polls and adds to the issues of youth unemployment in the country.
