Hon Alban Bagbin the Speaker of Parliament has stated that the construction of the National Cathedral is not a national project but a personal pledge to God made by Akufo-Addo.

Speaking in an interview with TV3, the Speaker said, “It was a personal pledge from President Akufo-Addo to God when he visited the Wailing Wall. My evidence is that His Excellency visited the wailing wall 3 times and that was when he pledged to God.

But it was a personal pledge by him so it should not be a National Project. He promised God that if he becomes the President, he will construct a national cathedral to honour God”.
