Chinese Ambassador gives govt “green light” to deal with compatriots involved in Galamsey

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Tong Defa, has requested the government of Ghana to punish Chinese nationals involved in illegal mining activities.

Speaking to journalists in Accra, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Tong Defa, stated that he is aware that some Chinese nationals are involved in illegal mining in the country and that, the Chinese government against the activity.

“I know there are some Chinese involved in this illegal mining but we discourage them.

“I accompanied President Akufo-Addo to Beijing when he met our President in 2018, our President told him that ‘if any Chinese committed any illegal sins here in Ghana, you should hold them accountable to your laws” he added.

He used the opportunity to discourage Chinese living in Ghana from involving themselves in galamsey.
