The footage, which has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), depicts the children playing in red-colored sand at a mining site, with one child seen swimming in the mud.

This disturbing incident has intensified the national conversation around illegal mining, raising alarms about the health risks faced by children living near these hazardous sites. Many are calling for urgent intervention to protect the well-being of these vulnerable children.

The reappearance of children in these dangerous environments comes amid warnings from the Ghana Water Company Limited about the severe impact of illegal mining on water supplies in Cape Coast, Elmina, and surrounding areas.
The River Pra has been heavily polluted due to illegal mining activities, contributing to a water crisis that threatens entire communities.
Meanwhile organized labour has given government by the end of the month to put an end to illegal mining or they will declare a nationwide strike.

A very disturbing video has surfaced online of three children who wandered off into a galamsey site stuck in the mud.
