Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 elections, has been spotted campaigning in a trotro, Ghana’s popular commercial bus.

The video of Bawumia interacting with commuters in the trotro has gone viral, capturing the attention of the public and political analysts alike.

The approach has garnered praise from Koku Anyidoho, a defunct of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). Reflecting on past successful campaigns, Anyidoho commented, “I will continue to say it; say it; and say it … When we introduced the door-to-door in 2008, it worked. Nana Addo adopted it in 2016, it worked. Bawumia has taken the thing to very dizzying heights and who says it shall not work for him too? With God ALL things are Possible.”

While Bawumia makes waves with his grassroots campaigning strategy, the Electoral Commission of Ghana is facing increasing scrutiny from various stakeholders, including the NDC.

With the general elections scheduled for December 2024, the political climate is charged, and every campaign move is under intense scrutiny.
