The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has strongly criticized the concept of a “24-hour economy’’, by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress calling it an insult to the intelligence of Ghanaians.

His remarks come in response to former President John Mahama’s proposal to establish a 24-hour economy as part of his economic agenda.

Richard Ahiagbah stated, “This whole talk about a 24-hour economy is an insult to our intelligence. It is an affront to suggest that such a simplistic solution can address the complex economic challenges we face.”

He expressed frustration over the lack of clarity from John Mahama and his team when questioned about the feasibility and implementation of this proposal.

“When you ask them, they are stammering. They can’t provide a coherent strategy or policy that will affect real change,” he added.

The concept of a 24-hour economy has been promoted by Mahama as a means to boost productivity and economic growth by enabling businesses to operate around the clock.
However, Ahiagbah contended that without a comprehensive and actionable plan, such ideas remain empty promises.

He urged Ghanaians to be wary of proposals that lack substantive backing, emphasizing that the focus should be on policies that genuinely address the country’s economic issues.

“It’s crucial for Ghanaians to remember that mere slogans will not solve our problems. We need concrete strategies and leadership that deliver real results,” Ahiagbah concluded.
