A viral video of a Legon security man alleging that the incumbent member of parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan is sharing rice and oil for votes has surfaced on social media.
According to the guard who expressed his disappointment Lydia Seyram Alhassan had only given him 5kg bag of rice and a small bottle of cooking oil for 8 years.
Speaking in a recorded video, the security guard stated, “It is Lydia, the whole of eight years, this is the thing he can give, we have never received anything from Lydia apart from this one, I am in this constituency I vote at Bawaleshi”.
“That is politics for you, me I can’t take this and vote for you, so if because of this thing you are giving to buy me you lie, my vote is not coming to you”, he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has been urging law enforcement agencies to enforce laws that ban the trend of vote-buying by politicians and voters in Ghana during election periods.
The electoral observer aired concern over reported occurrences of vote-buying in some parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians go to the polls in 10 days to decide their next president and their members of parliament for the next four years.
