Raphael Afful Williams, one of the lead conveners of the Democracy Hub and the #FixTheCountry movement, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service and currently held at the Regional Commands.
His arrest comes barely 24 hours after his bold act of defiance, where he broke through the barricades at the National Cathedral to grant #EnoughIsEnough protesters access to the controversial construction site.
Viral footage shared on X (formerly Twitter) shows demonstrators wading through water in the National Cathedral pit, now flooded due to recent downpours.
This incident has sparked widespread reactions, with many questioning the government’s priorities and the role of the National Cathedral board and secretariat, especially after assuring Ghanaians that the project would be completed this year.
Williams did not mince words in his criticism, describing the sight of the water-filled National Cathedral pit as a “sad spectacle.” Another convener of the Democracy Hub revealed this information to YawaNews.
We will provide updates as the situation unfolds.
