Some 1,500 executives and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency have joined the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the defectors, the NPP has contributed more to the development of the constituency than the NDC has ever done, leading to their decision to join the party (NPP).
“Every year we vote against the NPP but we always enjoy maximum development in our Zongos and Nsawam as a whole. Even the park we have here and the library was done by the NPP for us. The schools here which have been roofed was done by the MP of the constituency, Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh. The Zongo palace was also constructed by the NPP,” a Muslim leader was heard saying.
Member of Parliament (MP)
for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Frank Annoh Dompreh touted the defection as a clear declaration of support.
According to him, the Zongos have seen the infrastructural development and the demonstration of respect to the community and Islam as a religion by the NPP.
“The Muslim community have been made to know that we love them, and now the propaganda of the NDC won’t work again. The people themselves have decided that this year they are voting Dr. Bawumia and they are respecting Islam against someone who turned his back to Islam,” he added.
The MP professed that the more people will defect to the NDC as the election draws nearer.
